PANOS KARDASIS
There is always a thought, a concept in my mind, which is translated to one or more symbols. Only symbols give birth to designs.

I was born in 1974, studied software engineering in Athens & Manchester, and in 1997 I started working as project manager and/or management consultant - a job I still like for its tangible applications in the complex world we live in. I have also been ‘designing’ forever, either by intention, or spontaneously, when I lose myself in thoughts, or when I am bored. I cannot even remember when I first ‘saw’ jewellery designs in those scribblings of mine, which was my personal point of departure for experimenting with jewellery making techniques and materials. In the 90’s, a series of workshops on traditional techniques by the emblematic Benaki Museum made me really passionate about greek jewellery, heritage and modern. I was then taught by Mrs. Lila De Chaves the ancient technique of repousse on pitch, which I always use for creating my collections’ model pieces. For me, making jewellery is therapeutic. There is always a thought, a concept in my mind, which is translated to one or more symbols. Only symbols give birth to designs. My jewellery narrates my own story, talking for example about the importance of time, about miracles, our need to prioritize or even our right to forget and to give space to new feelings and experiences. Bijoux bizarres, my jewellery, are sold through venues I love, such as The Shop of Benaki Museum and the Art Fair of Ilias Lalaounis Jewellery Museum. As an affiliate of A JEWEL MADE IN GREECE, I have also exhibited work at the European Parliament in Brussels, ART Athina and the Museum of Art & Design in New York.
