Calliope Komninou studied pedagogics at the University of Ioannina and continued with postgraduate studies in children's literature at the University of Surrey. With roots from Eastern Thrace and Siatista in Western Macedonia, she grew up in an environment where elegance, the love for the beautiful and the handmade had a primary place. The images of her grandmothers and her mother embroidering elaborate designs with gold and colored threads and knitting with needles and crochets were imprinted in her and found a way of expression in the jewelry she designs and creates with gold thread. Gold thread combined with semi-precious stones and beads are her basic materials, with which she makes unique jewelry, giving it a special and personal touch. She is inspired by Greek tradition, Greek mythology and the colors of Greek nature. She follows modern fashion trends which adapts to her own style.Her work reflects her passion for art and her commitment to create high quality pieces. Her unique and original jewellery is aimed at unique personalities who want to stand out. They want to express through jewellery their attitude towards life and bring aspects of their inner world to the forefront.
